Hotspot Captive Portal

Complete guide to the Nukta Hotspot captive portal buy page, plan availability settings, router filtering, voucher login, and theme customization.

What Customers See

The captive portal interface is designed to be mobile-first, high-converting, and intuitive:

  1. Branded Header: Displays your official ISP company logo, isp name, and 24/7 customer care hotline.
  2. Promotional Banners: Highlights announcements, discounts, or local sponsor creatives configured under Communications → Campaigns.
  3. Package Cards: Clean, modern cards detailing each available plan:
    • Plan Name: The name of the plan
    • Speed Limit: Clear download and upload limits.
    • Validity Duration: e.g., 1 Hour, 12 Hours, 7 Days, or 30 Days.
    • Price: Displayed in bold in your selected currency.
    • Badge Highlights: Visual tags such as Popular or On Offer.
  4. Flexible Access Tabs:
    • Buy Plan: One-tap checkout via mobile money or online payment gateway.
    • Voucher Entry: PIN entry for vouchers.
    • Existing Customer: Username and password login for returning customers.
    • Connect Smart TV: Generates a 4-digit code and QR code for smart TVs.

Plan Availability & Visibility Rules

Both the Hotspot buy page and the customer portal build their plan list directly from Finance → Packages. When you modify or publish a package in the ISP dashboard, changes reflect on captive portals instantly.

Availability Settings

Each plan in Nukta has an Availability toggle on its configuration form:

AvailabilityCaptive Buy PageCustomer Portal Top UpAssignable in ISP Dashboard
LiveShownShownYes
HiddenNot shownNot shownYes
OffNot shownNot shownNo
  • Live: Publicly displayed to customers and available for direct purchase.
  • Hidden: Kept off public captive portals and self-service pages, but ISP team members can still assign it manually to customers in the dashboard (useful for custom enterprise or VIP rates).
  • Off: Completely disabled across the network. Cannot be purchased or assigned anywhere.

Captive Buy Page Filtering Rules

In addition to the Availability setting, the Hotspot captive portal applies network-aware filtering:

  1. Router-Specific Filtering:
    • If a plan is restricted to specific MikroTik routers, it will only appear on captive portals served by those routers. A plan limited to Site B will never show to visitors connected at Site A.
  2. Schedule Windows:
    • If you enable a time schedule for a package, Nukta automatically hides the plan outside its scheduled window.
  3. Device-Aware Presentation:
    • Smart TVs and streaming boxes automatically receive the TV pairing view.
  4. Sort Order:
    • Packages are displayed in the specific custom display order configured in the Packages dashboard, and then by price.

Customizing Your Portal

Configure your captive portal under Settings → Hotspot:

  • Logo Upload: Upload a crisp PNG or SVG logo displayed prominently at the top of the portal.
  • Brand Accent Colors: Choose an accent color that matches your brand palette.
  • Support Channels: Enter your official customer support telephone hotline and WhatsApp number.
  • Terms of Service: Provide a link to your network acceptable use policy.

Troubleshooting

A Plan Is Missing from the Buy Page

  1. Check Availability: Open the package in Finance → Packages and verify that Availability is set to Live.
  2. Check Router Assignment: Verify that the plan is permitted on the specific router through which the test device is connected.
  3. Check Schedules: If the plan has a time schedule enabled, ensure the current local time falls within the configured start and end hours.
  4. Customer Account Type: PPPoE accounts never see Hotspot plans, and Hotspot accounts never see PPPoE plans.

The Entire Page Displays "Network Maintenance"

If the captive page displays a maintenance notice instead of packages, the router has been placed in Maintenance Mode in the ISP dashboard. During maintenance, new package sales are temporarily suspended to prevent customers from purchasing service during upstream maintenance windows.
